PENAMPANG: Penampang MP Datuk Ewon Benedick called for the Kapayan Square upgrade project to be completed according to schedule to benefit traders and visitors in the area.
The Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister said while waiting for the Kapayan Square roofing construction to be fully completed, weekly tamu traders in the area have been temporarily relocated to a new site.
He said this during a ceremony for the handover of tables and chairs and the launching of the temporary tamu site for the Kapayan Square weekly tamu traders, here, Saturday.
The temporary site launch was officiated by Kapayan Assemblywoman Datuk Jannie Lasimbang.
“This temporary relocation is important to allow the Kapayan Square upgrade works to proceed smoothly. I hope the roofing construction progresses according to schedule so it can benefit the community in this area, including the traders and visitors,” Ewon said.
Besides the tables and chairs donated, Ewon had previously provided canopies to 72 Kapayan Square market entrepreneurs in July to reduce their burden and facilitate their business operations at the temporary site.
The temporary Kapayan Square weekly tamu site will be built using the Kapayan Assemblywoman’s allocation, while the Kapayan Square commercial area upgrade project will be implemented through allocations from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government and Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
