Kota Kinabalu: Sabah achieved strong financial performance with RM6.842 billion in revenue for 2024, while strengthening governance through revenue diversification and maintaining 22 consecutive years of excellent audit results.
“I extend congratulations to the Chief Minister and all parties who contributed to achieve this excellent State revenue collection,” said Musa.
He said the State Government has maintained excellent financial management practices, evidenced by receiving the National Audit Department Certificate for 22 consecutive years without any reprimands.
“This achievement, based on the Sabah State Government Financial Statement ending Dec 31, 2023, shows the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening integrity and transparency in State finances,” he said.
He noted the State Government has imposed State Sales Tax on three new products, namely, silica sand, palm oil biomass exported from Sabah and gold and silver mined in the State.
“This is in an effort to diversify revenue sources and reduce the state’s dependence on oil and gas-related revenues,” he said.
Additionally, he welcomed the State Government’s comprehensive efforts to strengthen financial governance by improving management procedures, including procurement processes and concession appointments.
