
BELURAN: A total of 27 Palauh and 13 Filipino and Indonesians were rounded up in the first series of the Sapi Nangoh Beluran Road Check Point Integrated Operation from July 13 to July 15.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Commander DSP Victor Sanjos said inspections were carried out on 661 individuals and 282 vehicles.
“Of the figure, 13 are found to be illegal immigrants from the Philippines and Indonesia. A vehicle was also seized on suspicion of being used to transport them,” he said, adding the case was handed over to the Immigration Department.
“Some 27 Palauh caught travelling in a public transportation were also detained and handed over to the Department,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

He said 85 summonses for various traffic offences were also issued.
The integrated operation held at the Sapi Nangoh Road Check Pont and Km70 Jalan Beluran-Kg Pamol was joined by police, armed forces, and several other agencies.
Victor said the operation was aimed at combating smuggling of controlled, subsidised, untaxed goods and the entry of illegals while also to deter crime along main routes linking Sabah’s east and west coast, including along routes identified as rat trails in Beluran.
“Esscom will continue to intensify integrated operations in districts within the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) to curb any element that may disrupt public safety and the well-being of the people caused by the influx of illegal immigrants, especially on the East coast of Sabah,” he said.
