Men or women, hair is our crowning glory. The ladies will curl or straighten their hair before a date, and the men will style the hair to make themselves appear neat and confident. A Malaysian man, however, decided to bid farewell to his crown that he had kept uncut for 3 years.
Bryan recently had a long overdue haircut at a salon in Puchong and it had nothing to do with the length or the style.
He wanted to donate his hair to cancer patients
Bryan’s intention of donating his hair to cancer patients was motivated by a precious soul – his mother.
Unfortunately, Bryan’s mother, Jaclyn couldn’t witness her son’s contribution. She passed away due to breast cancer in 2017, and Bryan decided to do a good deed in honor of his mother.
In a heartfelt conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Bryan said his late mother was diagnosed with cancer all the way back in 2008. Jaclyn’s condition initially improved but we can never foresee what fate has in store for us. Her cancer relapsed years later and her illness elevated to an advanced stage before her demise.
“My mom has always reminded me to do good deeds, as many as I can.”
Bryan took his late mother’s reminder to heart and did as many good deeds as he could. Giving away his hair to cancer patients is one of them. Bryan also cited his late mum’s good deeds as 1 of his inspiration’s sources.
“She loved to rescue stray dogs. She wanted to make sure they were adopted and had proper shelter.”
He had his haircut in February 2024 and when asked about his previous haircut, Bryan told WORLD OF BUZZ,
“I’ve been keeping this hair since 2021.”

In case you’ve ever thought about giving something back to cancer patients, here’s how Bryan made it work. He went for his haircut at one of the hair salons near his house, and the hairstylists took care of the rest.
They sent Bryan’s hair to Locks of Hope, one of the NGOs associated with creating wigs for cancer patients. The salon he went to was linked with Locks of Hope.
“The only money you have to spent is your haircut fee. You can actually visit any hair salon of your liking, and send the hair to Locks of Hope yourself.”
Before you decide to give away your “crown”, make sure your hair is at least 6 inches (15cm) long. Permed or dyed hair is only accepted after 6 months, according to a Facebook post from Locks of Hope.
