RANAU: A local in his 30s was injured after being shot with a babakuk (home-made shotgun) while hunting with his acquaintances, near here, recently.

Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun Lomudin said three other local men aged 30 to 40 had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

He said the victim was currently in a stable condition and being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

“We received a report on Feb 27 about a man who suffered bodily injuries after being shot using a bakakuk while hunting in the forest in the district,” he said.
