Kota Kinabalu: Some 3,000 students and teachers from nine primary and secondary schools in Kunak and Semporna were exposed to the importance of environmental awareness through an Environmental Education Programme held in July and August.
The programme was made possible thanks to initiatives by the Silam Coast Conservation Area (SCCA), under the Yayasan Sabah Group Conservation and Environmental Management Division (CEMD).
The initiative, funded by the Danum Valley Conservation Fund aimed at enhancing environmental knowledge and raise awareness among school children in Kunak and Semporna.
“The initiative is a collaborative effort with the Kunak and Semporna District Education Offices (PPD) of Kunak and Semporna, as well as the Sabah Education Department (JPN Sabah), and Reef Check Malaysia (RCM),” said SCCA Conservation and Research Officer Habibah Mohd Yusah.
