The Jagraon police arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery at a local jewellery store. The accused — identified as Tarlochan Singh alias Baba, Jaskaran Singh and Kamaldeep Singh alias Kamal, all residents of Badhni Kalan, Moga — were arrested for the robbery at the Fancy Kanda Jeweller on May 28.

A customer was also injured during the crime after being attacked by a sword. The police said Kamaldeep Singh is Tarlochan’s nephew.

The police recovered approximately 170 grams of stolen silver jewellery, a gold chain and the sword used in the crime.

The police said all the accused have criminal backgrounds.

According to the police, the accused admitted to snatching the bike from a passerby at gunpoint in Moga about three days before the robbery in Jagraon. The stolen bike was used by the accused in the robbery.

The injured customer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition for a while.

According to the FIR, the jeweller was showing goods to customers at his shop when the three masked robbers entered around 8pm. One of the robbers got into the counter and asked the jeweller to hand over any money he had. He also took two boxes of jewellery. The events unfolded in less than two minutes and were caught on CCTV cameras at the shop.
