The Khanna police on Sunday arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Hardeep Singh, alias Honey Rosha, and his nephew Karan Rosha, for creating a ruckus during a victory procession following the declaration of the MC election results on Friday.

SAD leaders reportedly challenged the Aam Aadmi Party’s defeated candidate after winning the seat and in a call recording, SAD leader can be heard abusing the ruling party candidate.

Following this, the AAP candidate, Pradeep Kumar, alias Sonu Johar, who lost the elections to the SAD leader, filed a police complaint. The complaint stated that Honey Rosha had arrived in front of the complainant’s house to celebrate his victory. During this, he set off firecrackers in front of his house, played obscene songs and when he protested, he had his supporters beat him up and mistreated his pregnant sister-in-law. The CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced on social media.

Honey is reportedly close to SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal. The complainant, Sonu Johar, is stated to be close to AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh.

According to information, Honey Rosha won the Municipal Council elections from Ward 30 in Khanna on May 29. Johar stated in the complaint that after winning the elections, Honey was celebrating with his family members and a large number of supporters in his ward. They also played obscene songs outside the AAP candidate’s house during the celebrations.

According to the complaint, during the celebrations, attendees set off firecrackers and played obscene songs in front of the AAP candidate’s house. When Johar’s family members protested, they were verbally abused and later attacked inside the house. Johar has alleged assault on his family members. He said Honey and others mistreated his pregnant sister-in-law and assaulted her when she protested. The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed in the street.

Based on the complaint and the CCTV footage, the Khanna City police registered a case against over 24 persons, including Honey, his son, two nephews and other family members.

The police arrested Honey and his nephew Karan Rosha on Sunday morning. The search for the remaining suspects is on. Police officials said further legal action would be taken on the basis of the investigation.

Khanna SSP Darpan Ahluwalia said based on the complaint, both suspects were arrested after a probe.
