Magistrate Ana Rozana Mohd Nor ordered Yin Guanghua, 50, Lin Bingde, 54, and Luo Zhibing, 38, to serve the prison sentence starting from the date they were arrested on July 18, after they pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary, which was read to them in Mandarin.

They were charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which was read together with Section 34 of the same Act for criminal acts done by several persons, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of five years and a fine upon conviction.

If the offence is theft, the punishment prescribed is imprisonment of up to 14 years and a fine. For subsequent offences, the punishment prescribed is imprisonment of up to 14 years and a fine or whipping if convicted.

According to Kosmo!, the trio was not represented by a lawyer and sought leniency from the court as they have respective families to care for.
