Three people were killed and one injured after a man allegedly opened fire at his family members over a land dispute in Bichpari village on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Isro Devi, Sandeep and Mahinder while the injured was identified as Sunita.

The accused, identified as Abhishek, fled the spot after the incident.

According to information, the family had been involved in a dispute over land and money related to soil excavation. On Friday evening, the dispute took an ugly turn and Abhishek allegedly opened fire at his family members. His grandmother Isro Devi died on the spot, while his elder brother Sandeep, uncle Mahinder and aunt Sunita sustained injuries.

The injured were rushed to CHC Shahzadpur and later referred to GMCH-32, Chandigarh. However, Sandeep and Mahinder succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.

After receiving information about the incident, police officials and a crime scene team reached the spot and began an investigation.

SHO Shahzadpur said, “While three people have died, one is undergoing treatment at GMCH-32. There was a dispute related to soil excavation. Teams from the CIA units, police station and STF are making efforts to nab the accused.”
