A crocodile was seen crawling near Sungai Klang close to Brickfields shocking those living in the area.
The large reptile was spotted by a netizen, who then uploaded a clip on TikTok.
Authorities alerted about the sighting
In the video which was uploaded online yesterday (July 17), the 3-metre long crocodile could be seen climbing onto a pile of debris in the middle of a river.
When contacted by NST, Federal Territories Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Ishak Muhammad confirmed it was the same crocodile that made headlines back in February.
We can confirm that only one crocodile has been observed here to date. We initially tried to capture it by luring it with various bait but failed.
“The crocodile didn’t take the bait as it was hunting for fish in the river, making it disinterested in the bait,” he explained.
Ishak said Perhilitan has since removed the traps and are tracking the crocodile’s movements.
“Our observations revealed that the crocodile would move around the Mid Valley Shopping Mall area toward Masjid Jamek,” he said, while assuring there was no danger posed to humans for the time being.
However, he called upon the public to exercise caution when up and about in the area.
‘Bandar Amazon’
As for netizens, many saw the crocodile’s appearance as a good sign as it was proof that Sungai Klang was clean enough for it to be habitable.
Others joked that the crocodile served as a free attraction.
