The police launched a special campaign in Shimla district on Tuesday and recovered 305 bottles of illicit country-made liquor.

The police have seized 305 bottles of illicit country-made liquor in Shimla district. The police launched a special campaign in the district on Tuesday and recovered 120 bottles of country-made liquor from the possession of Paras (24), a resident of Khillar village in Nerwa, Shimla; and Narender Dutt (26), a resident of Rayushti village in Nerwa, Shimla. The police stopped the vehicle the accused were travelling in near Riyuni village and seized the liquor bottles kept there. A case under Section 39 (1) (a) (producing, manufacturing, possessing, importing, exporting or transporting liquor without proper licence, permit or pass) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act-2011 was registered against the duo and an investigation was initiated.

In another incident, the police recovered 72 bottles of country-made liquor from the possession of Arun, alias Neetu (38), a resident of Matal village in Rajgarh, Sirmaur. The police stopped a vehicle near Pubahal bridge in Chopal and recovered 65 bottles of country-made liquor and beer of different brands from Gaurav Thakur (25), a resident of Bajarkoti village in Rohru Subdivision of Shimla, during checking in the Rohru area. A case was also registered against Gaurav.

Besides, the police raided a dhaba in the Jais area of Theog and recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor. The police team also recovered illicit country-made liquor from another dhaba in Sabzi Mandi of Shimla. They conducted another raid in the Jutogh area and recovered 10 bottles of country-made liquor from the possession of Ranveer Singh (43), a resident of Majiath.

SSP, Shimla, Gaurav Singh said that cases under Section 39 (1)(a) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act-2011 had been registered against the accused and investigations were underway.
