A TOTAL of 324 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police have been dismissed from service after being implicated in drug abuse offences between 2020 and last year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail disclosed that 1,869 police personnel were detained under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 during the period, comprising 91 officers and 1,778 rank-and-file members.
Of that number, 958 individuals have been charged in court.
“The remaining 911 individuals are still undergoing investigation and trial, and are awaiting pathology and chemical reports to complete the investigation process,” he said in a written parliamentary reply.
He was responding to a question from Onn Abu Bakar (PH-Batu Pahat) regarding the number of police officers and personnel involved in drug abuse from 2020 to 2025, the nature of the offences, and the disciplinary or legal action taken.
Saifuddin explained that, in addition to criminal proceedings, the Police Integrity and Standards Compliance Department conducts internal investigations into personnel implicated in such offences.
“Disciplinary proceedings by the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department are carried out in accordance with Regulation 33(1) of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 after a conviction is secured in court.
“Based on statistics, a total of 511 police officers and personnel were subjected to disciplinary punishment between 2020 and 2025. Of that number, 324 officers and personnel were dismissed from service, while the remainder received punishments ranging from warnings to demotion,” he said.
The figures underscore the scale of internal enforcement measures within the force as authorities seek to address drug-related misconduct among serving personnel. - February 27, 2026
