
The Youth Red Cross of Kurukshetra University observed World Red Cross Day on Friday along with a merit certificate distribution ceremony. The chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva, said that selfless service to humanity is the highest virtue.
He stated that the principles of the Red Cross — humanity, impartiality, voluntary service, universality, neutrality, unity and independence — are globally recognised and respected. Appreciating the dedicated efforts of Youth Red Cross volunteers and counsellors, the Vice-Chancellor said that human service is the true purpose of education and students should actively participate in social and humanitarian activities.
VC Sachdeva further said that youth are the greatest strength of the nation, and if they move forward with a spirit of service, sensitivity and social responsibility, the future of the country will be very bright.
Dean Students’ Welfare AR Chaudhri said that Indian culture has always upheld human values, and the Red Cross movement also inspires people to embrace humanitarian values and fulfil social responsibilities.
Youth Red Cross Programme Coordinator Dinesh Singh Rana said that the KU Youth Red Cross is playing an important role in developing humanity, selfless service, discipline, leadership qualities and social responsibility among students.
Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Kurukshetra, Ramesh Chaudhary highlighted the role of the Red Cross movement, while Sports Council Chairman Dr Amit encouraged students to maintain discipline, physical fitness, team spirit and dedication.
Deputy Director Public Relations Dr Jimmy Sharma informed that the Vice-Chancellor honoured 33 Youth Red Cross volunteers with merit certificates for their outstanding contribution and dedicated service in various activities.
