Bournemouth have failed with a new offer for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Mirror says the Cherries have made a 12 million bid to land England goalkeeper Jack Butland from Stoke.

But the Potters have rejected the offer as it falls well below their 20million valuation of the 26-year-old star.

Aston Villa are also in the hunt for Butland but Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has stolen a march by slapping in an opening bid.

Howe wants Butland to be Bournemouth's new number one ahead of Artur Boruc and Asmir Begovic but Stoke insist the star won't be allowed to leave the Bet365 Stadium on the cheap.
