KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Safari International Offroad Challenge returns for its 33rd edition from 26 October to 2 November 2025, featuring tougher routes, expanded global participation and renewed sponsorship.
The Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association (SFWDA) signed a Letter of Agreement with UMW Grantt International Sdn Bhd, marking the lubricant maker’s ninth year as Platinum Sponsor.
Event Director Faez Nordin described the Safari as a testament to the spirit of adventure, teamwork, and resilience, adding that UMW Grantt’s lubricants are key to enduring Sabah’s harsh terrains.
He welcomed newcomers Team Matrock from Kuala Lumpur, recent runner-up at the Kota Marudu 4x4 Challenge, noting their presence reflects the event’s growing appeal.
Around 500 vehicles and 2,000 participants from Malaysia and 11 countries will take part, with new rules and technical scoring systems introduced this year.
UMW Grantt’s General Manager Iskandar Mohamed Salleh reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment, including CSR efforts like tree planting, school support and community facility restoration along the expedition route.
The Safari will flag off on 26 October at Gaya Street before heading deep into Sabah’s jungles for eight days.
