DC United are set to hold shock talks with Arsenal over a potential deal for Mesut Ozil.
The MLS club will lose Wayne Rooney in January after the former England International agreed a switch to Derby County.
The Mirror says DC have identified Ozil as their next big money signing.
However, the German's mammoth 350,000-a-week wages may prove prohibitive to any deal taking him to the 'States.
The American side are also considering former Manchester City and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.
