BAGUIO CITY — Close to 400 players are primed and ready for the fourth edition of the Cordillera Golfers Foundation Inc. (CGFI) Golf Tournament set at John Hay Golf Club and Pinewoods Golf Club in this mountain resort on April 13-18, 2026.
The players begin to arrive here on Friday from different parts of the country and overseas, including the United States. They will battle for group and individual titles in the regular, seniors and ladies’ division of the second biggest amateur tournament in Northern Luzon.
This year will see the participation of junior golfers with the youngest at 10 years old and lady golfers from the Cordillera region.
Many of those who registered for the tournament are perennial champions in the Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, the longest and biggest amateur tournament in the Asia-Pacific region held in Baguio City annually.
Practice rounds are set on April 13 to 14 while tournament proper will be on April 15 to 18.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalona, Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut Jr. and other dignitaries are expected to grace the ceremonial tee off at JHGC on April 14, which is also the date for the team captains meeting and welcome dinner.
The annual tournament has been gaining support from various partners and sponsors, owing to its outreach missions where funds were drawn from the proceeds of the tournament.
Since its maiden tournament in 2023, the CGFI has helped build school buildings in public schools in the remote parts of the Cordillera. It also donated internet connectivity devices, laptops and other equipment to public schools.
