A 43-year-old man has been charged for causing the death of an 18-year-old in a tragic accident in Kuala Terengganu last month.

Asrizal Hisham Khalid, a trader, allegedly drove his Volkswagen Golf GTI recklessly at Jalan Losong Feri on May 19, crashing into a lamp post before hitting a van carrying the teen, Wah Han Keong, and his father. The impact caused the lamp post to pierce the van, fatally injuring Wah, who was decapitated.
Pleads not guilty
Asrizal was charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, which carries a jail term of:
- 5–10 years
- A fine of RM20,000–RM50,000
- Possible license suspension.
In a shocking turn of events, the man has since pleaded not guilty and was granted RM10,000 bail, however his license has been revoked until the case concludes. Reports state that the next court mention is set for August 3.

The teen’s father, who survived the crash, reportedly witnessed the tragedy and plans to pursue legal action.
