In a series of pictures shared by the Ministry of Public Works (JKR) on its Facebook page, the sinkhole happened this morning on the access road to the VIP Complex – the Bunga Raya Complex. The sinkhole has a depth of 1 meter, a width of 5.4 meters, and a length of over 4 meters.

What could be the cause of the sinkhole?

According to JKR, a leaking pipe is suspected to be the cause of the sinkhole at the moment. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has been informed of the incident and monitoring works are being done.

JKR stated that inspections at the site revealed the sewer line near the sinkhole is owned by KLIA. Despite the sinkhole, the roads remain accessible to the public. The location closest to the sinkhole, however, is closed off for safety reasons. MAHB has implemented a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) in the area to ensure smooth traffic flow.

MAHB, on the other hand, will come up with a detailed report once the investigation is complete.

Stay tuned as we keep you updated!
