
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday approved the promotion of five senior military officials and 85 foreign affairs officers whose confirmations were delayed due to the Senate power struggle.
But the leadership squabble ended after Sen. Win Gatchalian was elected Senate president during the special session called by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The CA approved the ad interim appointments of Vice Admiral Allan Javier, Maj. Gen. Isagani Criste, Brig. Gen. Niceforo Diaz Jr., Brig. Gen. Rosemawattee Remo, and Lt. Gen. Edmundo Peralta.
The CA also approved the nominations and ad interim appointments of 85 Department of Foreign Affairs officers including Josel Ignacio as ambassador to India, with concurrent jurisdiction over Nepal; Senen Mangalile as ambassador to Cambodia; Noel Novicio as ambassador to Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Fiji; Robespierre Bolivar as chief of mission; and Emilio Fernandez, chief of mission.
