Many students think that if they study long time, they will get good marks in exam. They always study until very late and read again and again to remember things. But this is not always work. Studying too much without good way can make you tired, stress, and sometimes fail. I also used to think study long is better, but later I found that it’s not the best way. So, we should not only study hard, but study smart. That means better ways to learn, good plan, and also take care of our body. If we learn smart, we can save time and feel more happy when study. Here are 5 tips to help you study smarter.

1. Make a Easy Study Plan
Before you begin, make a small plan. Planning help you save time and focus better. Write what subject you want to study. Then break into small parts. For example, don’t just say “study math”, you can write “do page 10 exercises” or “review geometry notes”. Make small goals for each day. Study a little everyday is better than all in one night. I always try to write down 2–3 tasks before I start study, and it make me feel more clear. If you have plan, you feel less stress and use time better. Also, it help you not forget homework or test.
2. Try Active Learning
Just reading book is not enough. That is passive. Many students only read and don’t do anything else. It’s not good. Active learning is better. You can make flashcards, ask yourself question, or teach your friend. Also draw pictures or make small quiz. When you do things like this, your brain remember more and you don’t feel sleepy. Sometimes I try to speak the notes out loud or write in my own words. That helps me understand better. Also, when you teach someone, you know which part you don’t really understand.
3. Take Breaks When Study
Don’t study too long without stop. Your brain get tired and not focus. A better way is study short time, then take rest. One way is Pomodoro: study 25 min, then break 5 min. After 4 times, take big break like 20 min. When you rest, walk around, stretch, or drink water. It helps your brain relax. This way, you remember more in less time. I used to study for 2–3 hours without break, but I always feel sleepy. Now I use timer to help me take break, and I feel more fresh after each session. Even just 5 minutes break is very useful.

4. Practice More and Review Often
Only reading notes is not enough. You need to practice. Do past paper, answer question, solve problems. When you do this, you know what you don’t understand. Also, don’t wait until last day to review. Review many times before exam. You can make a review sheet with important things like keywords or formulas. It make revision easy. Sometimes I do mistake in homework, but that help me learn. If you do more practice, you will feel more ready for the test. Also, ask teacher if you don’t understand something.
5. Be Healthy
If you feel bad or not well, you can’t study well. Eat healthy food like fruit and vegetable. Drink water, not too much coke or snacks. Try to move body, maybe go walk or do small exercise. And sleep is very important. Don’t sleep too late. Sleep 7–8 hours if you can. If you rest good, your brain also work better. I notice when I sleep too little, I can’t focus in class. Also, don’t study with empty stomach, it makes you feel weak. Health is important part of learning.

Conclusion
Study smart is better than just study long. If you plan well, learn active, take break, practice, and be healthy, you can learn better and feel less stress. Try these tips and see what works for you. You don’t need study all day, just study in good way. Some people study 10 hours but still don’t get good mark, because no good method. So we should find what help us. Believe in yourself and don’t give up. Everyone can learn better if they try the right way.
