
Fire destroys 55% of scrap metal and recyclable materials at a factory near TNB Kapar Quarters in Klang, with no casualties reported
SHAH ALAM: A fire destroyed about 55 per cent of scrap metal and recyclable materials at a factory opposite the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Kapar Quarters Apartments near Klang tonight.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received a call about the incident at 7.15 pm, and fire engines from the Kapar Fire and Rescue Station arrived seven minutes later.
He said the fire involved a heap of scrap metal and recyclable materials covering an estimated area of 40 x 60 square feet. About 55 per cent of the materials were destroyed, with no casualties.
Ashrul Riezal said the firefighting operation also involved personnel from the North Klang, South Klang, and Port Klang stations, involving 19 personnel and five fire engines.
The cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation.
