Kota Kinabalu: Fifty-five squatter houses here were demolished Thursday in a bid to combat crimes and ensure the safety and comfort of residents in surrounding areas.

The Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters said the Squatter Colony Demolition Operation involved the cooperation of various agencies, including City Hall (DBKK).

AdvertisementOther agencies involved in this year’s first squatter colony demolition operation were the National Registration Department (JPN), Sabah Electricity (SE), Land and Survey Department (JTU) and the Chief Minister’s Department (JKM).

“The demolition of these houses is not only aimed at eradicating illegal housing but also to ensure the safety and comfort of residents in surrounding areas,” it said in a statement.
