A recent video has taken the internet by storm after a man was seen smiling while touching his genitals while staring at a woman at a supermarket.
In the video, the woman managed to record the incident and can be heard reprimanding the man while telling him that she would be filing a police report.
Suspect arrested for lewd act at Gerik supermarket
In a statement, Gerik District Police Chief Superintendent Abdul Samad Othman confirmed that a report was received from the victim herself yesterday (23 April), who works at the supermarket.
Investigations found that the incident happened at 3:33 PM when the 25-year-old victim was shocked to see the suspect unzip his trousers and carry out an indecent act while looking at her.
“The victim, who works at the supermarket, initially heard a sound like a zipper being opened, prompting her to check, before discovering the suspect committing the act of sexual harassment.
“The suspect was holding his genitals and committing the lewd act while staring at the complainant. The victim then recorded the incident on her mobile phone and confronted the suspect, causing him to leave the scene,” he said.
As a result, Abdul Samad said the 55-year-old suspect has been arrested, and police will apply for a remand order today (24 April) to assist with investigations.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
