“The victim, who is also the owner of a boat, went out fishing with 3 friends at 8 AM via the fishing jetty. At 7:20 PM, they all returned to the jetty after fishing. At that time, it was raining, and they all took shelter under the roof of the jetty,”

“Before that, the victim had time to wash the boat and perform the Maghrib prayer before deciding to return home despite the rain, because he was wet and could not stand the cold,” he said.

However, just as the man was about to pick up his fishing rod to head home, he was struck by lightning, causing him to fall down the jetty.

“Civilians who were there also helped lift the victim onto the boat before being taken ashore. The unconscious victim was sent to the hospital at around 8:35 PM before being confirmed dead an hour later,” he added.
