5th alarm fire hits homes along NIA Road in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A fire struck a residential area along NIA Road in Pinyahan village, Quezon City on Friday evening, March 6, prompting a large response from firefighters.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze was first raised to the 1st alarm at 9:01 p.m. and quickly escalated to the 2nd alarm at 9:03 p.m.

Authorities said the fire was declared 3rd alarm at 9:12 p.m. and further raised to the 4th alarm at 9:22 p.m.

The incident later reached the 5th alarm at 9:44 p.m. as firefighters continued efforts to contain the blaze in the residential area.

As of 11:18 p.m., the fire had been elevated to Task Force Bravo, according to the BFP National Capital Region.

Authorities said NIA Road and BIR Road were not passable to all types of vehicles as fire trucks continued to occupy the area while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Authorities have yet to release the number of houses affected, possible casualties, or the cause of the fire as of posting time.
