
MANILA, Philippines—A magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocked Eastern Samar on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake was recorded at 2:09 p.m. Its epicenter was located 9 kilometers northwest of San Julian, Eastern Samar.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 10 kilometers, state seismologists said.
Initial reports said that the quake's magnitude was 6.1.
