6 Manila policemen arrested in alleged armed robbery in Makati

MANILA, Philippines—Six Manila policemen were arrested over an alleged armed robbery incident in Makati.

The names of the suspects have not been released.

According to the initial report of the Makati Police Station released on Thursday, the incident occurred at around 7:48 p.m. on Wednesday  when the victims met two female individuals in Malate, Manila, and later accompanied them to Arsonbel Street in Makati to get their belongings. 

Upon arriving at the location, the victims were allegedly attacked by a group of armed men who pointed guns at them, forced them to lie on the ground, tied their hands, and forcibly took their personal belongings before fleeing on motorcycles.

Makati police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation, which resulted in the arrest of the six police officers, who were positively identified by the victims. 

The Manila Times reached out to the MPD for a statement, but it has yet to respond.
