Police are looking into a case of alleged bullying at a boarding school in Teluk Intan, Perak, following the allegations being brought forth by a group of students.
This comes after seven students from the school lodged a police report about how more than 60 students were forced by their seniors to do 200 push-ups, reported Berita Harian.
62 M’sian students forced to do 200 push-ups by seniors
According to Bagan Datuk district police chief Superintendent Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali, he said the alleged bullying took place on Mar 8.
He said the police reports were made by seven students, who claimed they were part of the 62 male Form 2 and Form 4 students students who were forced by two Form Five students to do 200 push-ups as a form of discipline.
As a result of the punishment, the students allegedly suffered swollen hands and muscle pain.
“As of last Friday, we have only received seven police reports over the incident. Our investigation suggests that the seniors may have attempted to discipline the juniors using an inappropriate method.
“Meanwhile, we are are still waiting an Order to Investigate (OTI) from the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office before we can take statements from the two Form Five students,” he told reporters at the Bagan Datuk District Police Headquarters today.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
