Former Uruguay defender Diego Lugano says he's unsurprised by the impact of Fede Valverde this season at Real Madrid.
The young Uruguay midfielder has been a revelation for Real.
And Lugano told AS: "I expected this explosion of Fede Valverde. It was known that he was a player who had a lot of talent since being a 'little boy'. His style of play is very particular, controlled, one of a big European team and it was a matter of time that he exploded.
"Madrid knew how to manage him. They gave him his development time to 'find' confidence. He knew how to wait. And in that there is a lot of merit from Madrid and the coach, who knew how to get him into the team little by little."
