
A total of 72.91 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the elections to four urban local bodies in Bilaspur district on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar said that the highest turnout of 86.50 per cent was recorded in Shri Naina Devi Ji Municipal Council and the lowest turnout of 67.46 per cent was registered in the Bilaspur Municipal Council.
He said that in the Ghumarwin Municipal Council, the voting turnout was 77.72 per cent while Shah Talai Nagar Panchayat recorded a turnout of 84.08 per cent. He added that of the total 16,782 registered voters, including 8,383 women, in the four urban local bodies, 2,235, including 6,095 women, exercised their right to franchise. He added that in the Bilaspur Municipal Council, 6,441 of the total 9,548 registered voters cast vote; in the Ghumarwin Municipal Council, 3,725 of toral 4,793 voters cast their vote, in Shri Naina Devi Ji Municipal Council 596 of total 689 registered voters exercised their right to vote while in Shahatalai Nagar Panchayat, 1,473 of the total 1,752 registered voters exercised their right to franchise.
