A great alternative to getting out the ironing board, the best anti-crease sprays work by relaxing the fibres in your clothing’s fabric, so that you can then stretch and smooth out any wrinkles by hand. Ideal for quick outfit touch-ups and taking on holiday, a trusty crease release spray is always worth having around – alongside a classic fabric refresher spray, to tackle any undesirable odours between washes.
As someone who will avoid plugging in the iron or steamer at any cost, I’m definitely the target audience when it comes to anti-crease sprays. And while some formulas are well-suited to any and every material, others won’t be quite right for delicate fabrics like silk. So, choosing carefully is key if you want to keep your clothing in tip-top condition.
Whether you’re looking for something that’ll help you get the creases out of your rumpled linen shirt, deodorise those denim jeans that smell a little stale, or do a little bit of both, I’m confident that I’ve covered all possible bases in this edit of the best anti-crease and fabric refresher sprays. Happy spritzing!

The Lab Co. crease release spray
Best: crease release spray overall
Why we love it
- Removes creases and also refreshes
- Lightweight and quick-drying
Take note
- For the price, it’s a pretty small bottle
Providing the best of both worlds, this premium spray has been formulated to de-crease and refresh clothing. More of a mist than a heavy-duty spray, it’s well-suited to lightweight and delicate fabrics – and the bottle itself is the perfect size for popping in your suitcase.

I’ve used it on all kinds of items, and was particularly impressed with how it performed when put up against my famously wrinkled black top. With minimal smoothing by me, the creases dropped straight out, and I was able to flatten out the hems on the sleeves that always seem to curl up. And because of the lightweight formula, it dried within about five minutes when hung up in a sunny spot.

Astonish fabric refresher spray
Best: budget anti-crease spray
Why we love it
- Great value
- Suitable for clothing and upholstery
Take note
- Will leave things very wet
This affordable spray is ideal for instantly refreshing everything from your clothes to your curtains. It effectively neutralises odours, and leaves behind a fresh and clean scent that’s surprisingly lovely. The whole Astonish range is vegan and cruelty-free, which is something I really like to see in a brand.

However, I don’t agree that the fragrance lasts for up to 42 days, as claimed – I’d definitely say that the Febreze spray leaves things smelling cleaner for longer. And the spray nozzle does really soak everything, so make sure you leave ample drying time. But all in all, it’s a great household staple.

Lenor crease releaser
Best: Best for deep creases and wrinkles
Why we love it
- Excellent crease and wrinkle removal
- Refreshing scent
Take note
- Leaves clothes quite damp
A bestseller for a reason, this Lenor spray packs a surprising punch and is more than capable of smoothing over any creases or wrinkles in most items of clothing – from cotton T-shirts and linen shorts to work shirts and denim jeans. I used it on my favourite pair of Abercrombie jeans, which often come out of the wash quite wrinkled on the legs. Spraying this and then stretching and smoothing out the denim genuinely left my jeans looking like they’d been ironed. And I also found the scent really refreshing.

The only downside? Your clothes will be quite wet – so, unlike The Lab Co, you definitely won’t be able to spritz and leave within ten minutes. But it’s still definitely your best bet for stubborn creases and wrinkles.

Febreze antibacterial fabric freshener spray
Best: fabric refresher spray
Why we love it
- The formula actively fights bacteria
- Lovely fresh scent
Take note
- Doesn’t tackle wrinkles
Designed to actually fight tough odours rather than just mask them, this Febreze spray is my go-to for spritzing the sofa and curtains during a Sunday reset. It still takes a little time to dry – but definitely not as long as the Astonish spray.

But I also even trust it for my least favourite task – refreshing the gym top or leggings that didn’t get washed in time and need to be reworn (don’t judge). It’s never an ideal situation, but when I douse my leggings in this spray and leave them out overnight to dry, they genuinely smell and feel like they’ve been freshly washed by the morning.

Clothes Doctor crease release refreshing spritz
Best: anti-crease spray for delicate fabrics
Why we love it
- Lightweight and quick-drying mist
- Really lovely fragrance
Take note
- Not ideal for heavier fabrics
This Clothes Doctor spritz has been specifically formulated for delicate garments like silk, viscose and satin – but it’ll also effectively remove any creases from lightweight cotton. With this in mind, the mist is incredibly fine – so you won’t end up with any noticeable spray splatters on your clothing.

I used it on one of my favourite ‘going out’ tops – a shiny viscose blouse that often crumples around the hems. With minimal smoothing by me, it flattened visible creases, and smoothed out the upturned hems. And I really loved the elegant botanical scent that it left behind.

Tallow + Ash aurora fabric spray
Best: smelling fabric spray
Why we love it
- Gorgeous floral fragrance
- Scents and sanitises
Take note
- The fragrance might not be right for everyone
Like the Febreze spray, this Tallow + Ash formula claims to both scent and sanitise fabrics. It’s really versatile, so you can use it on clothing, upholstery, and basically anything that won’t fit in your washing machine – but it does leave things pretty wet, so definitely allow for drying time.

As well as neutralising odours, it’s formulated with a range of elegant fragrances designed by master perfumers – this one boasts Lady Emma Rose and White Oud, and essentially doubles as a perfume if (like me!) you love strong and feminine fragrances.

Fairy non bio crease releaser
Best: soft scent
Why we love it
- Non-bio formula
- Really subtle scent
Take note
- Not as powerful as other crease releasers
As you’d expect from a brand like Fairy, this spray has a really subtle, soft, and powdery scent that’s been formulated specifically with the whole family in mind. Of all the sprays I tried, it’s definitely the one that left behind the best ‘freshly washed’ scent.

In terms of its effectiveness, I don’t think it quite lives up to its claims of being “like an iron in a bottle” – I’d say the Lenor spray is most deserving of that accolade – but it’s still great for smoothing away slight creases. I found it perfect for linen blouses and shirts that I still want to have a relaxed and casual look.

Tallow + Ash aurora duvet day spray
Best: spray for refreshing bedding
Why we love it
- Amazing for bedding and towels
- Stylish bottle
Take note
- Pretty pricey
Yes, I’ve already given a spot in this edit to Tallow + Ash. But I just can’t leave out the duvet day version of this gorgeous spray. Infused with French lavender, warm musk, zesty lemon, and juicy cassis, it’s essentially what you’d expect a 5-star hotel to smell like.
As much as I love the Febreze fabric refresher, the relaxing, fresh-linen scent of this spray is a far more soothing vibe for bedsheets that need to be changed, or towels that have gone a little musty. I pull back my sheets, spray it all over, smooth it over with my hands, and my bedroom feels instantly transformed.

What are the best clothes refresher and anti-crease sprays?
It’s got to be The Lab Co. Crease Release Spray, as it removes creases and freshens up your clothing – making it a must-have for any wrinkly or musty items in your wardrobe. It smells amazing, works with most fabrics, and dries really quickly – all of which I feel are super important. But the best dedicated fabric refresher is definitely the Febreze Antibacterial Fabric Freshener Spray, as it actually kills bacteria, rather than just masking bad odours. And for really deep creases and wrinkles, you can’t go wrong with Lenor Crease Releaser. After all, it’s a bestseller for a reason!
How I tested
Every single one of these anti-crease and fabric refresher sprays has been put to the test on some of the trickiest items in mine and my husband’s wardrobes over the past couple of months. From creased work shirts and rumpled linen shorts, to slightly musty sweatshirts that are overdue a wash, I’ve tested each spray on a variety of different suitable fabrics, and made notes on how well each formula has lived up to its claims. For each spray, I was assessing these key areas:
