
Tuaran: An 86-year-old who reportedly did not return home since Tuesday after leaving his home in Kampung Sinulihan, Tamparuli, near here, was found safe on Wednesday.
Akun Kalawot was found at 3.10pm by a police team in a tired state but not seriously injured.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Mohamad Nor Amit said they received information from the police who participated in the search and rescue (SAR) operation that Akun had been found in a ginger farm, about 500 meters from where he was last seen.
“A team of firemen rushed to the location where Akun was found and took him to the Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) to check his health condition and provide treatment.

At 5.30pm on Tuesday, dozens of villagers helped to search for the man but could not find any clues before his family members reported the incident to the police and other rescue agencies.
BBP Tuaran received a call regarding the incident at 7.12am and a team of firemen was sent to the location to conduct a SAR operation with the help of the police and the public.
