Koke is delighted to be new captain of Atletico Madrid.
The midfielder has formed an integral part of Diego Simeone's teams over the past few years and is relishing the chance to skipper the side.
"I can't wait to start the new season and we're very excited because we've completed a great pre-season," Koke said in a video shared on Twitter.
"Some very important players left, but new players have come in who want to do well and compete.
"I'm sure we'll be fighting for everything like we always do.
"It's an honour to wear the captain's armband.
"I joined the club when I was six years old, and after being an academy player I made it to the first team.
"I've been here for many years and I'm very excited and proud."
