In recent years, Singapore has seen an increase in fashion and luxury brand cafes. Most recently, Coach opened its first permanent cafe in Singapore this year, while Prada Caffe unveiled its latest summer menu.
Fashion and luxury brand cafes aren’t a new concept. In fact, the history of these luxury fashion cafes traces back to the late 1990s, when Giorgio Armani opened his first dining concept Giorgio Armani Caffe in Paris. Blending fashion and dining, this concept aimed to put the spotlight on the brand’s sophistication and elegance through food and ambience.
Following the success of Giorgio Armani Caffe, other luxury fashion houses joined in, opening cafes and restaurants to broaden their lifestyle branding beyond clothes and accessories. Brands like Ralph Lauren launched coffee shops and upscale restaurants in the late 1990s, adding the brand’s preppy and timeless style to its dining experience.
Today, it’s common to find some of the world’s most iconic fashion houses launching their own cafes within their retail stores. Beyond just being a spot for a quick coffee break, these spaces are designed as immersive brand experiences, inviting us to linger and indulge in the essence and luxury of the brand itself.
