The 22-year-old is still hoping to make it at the Premier League side.
But he has not played much under Mikel Arteta since he took over from Unai Emery.
And The Athletic reports that Maitland-Niles may believe it is time to move on.
He has played in only four of the last 12 games, totalling 70 minutes of action on the field.
Maitland-Niles has a contract until 2023.
The Englishman is hoping for a summer transfer or even a loan move to get his career back on the right track.
