Everton continued their fine run of form with a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Wednesday.
The Toffees remain unbeaten after the Premier League restart thanks to two quick goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison early in the first-half.
Kelechi Iheanacho got the visitors back in the game shortly after the break, but Everton were resolute in defence, lead by Michael Keane, and held on for all three points.
The Foxes are winless since returning to action, but Chelsea's loss to West Ham United in the late Wednesday game means they hold onto third spot.
Speaking after the game, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti told BBC Sport: "We started well, got in front and had control. But second half was totally different," "Leicester changed shape, put more pressure on us and we had difficulties.
"We didn't play well but we were focused defensively.
"The team are showing a good spirit and motivation. The dream of the Europa League is very important for us and for this reason we are going to fight. There are a lot of teams fighting for the Europa League and it will be an exciting run."
