Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho admits he is happy he does not need to face Matt Doherty in the coming years.
The former Wolves man has signed for Spurs on a four-year contract.
Mourinho wanted a right back, and admitted Doherty is someone he has admired from the opposite sideline for some time.
He said in a club statement: "I hate to play against him, so I'm so happy I won't play against him again. I'm so happy that we have him.
"[He had] an incredible career for Wolves. League One, Championship, Premier League, Europa League. He did everything for them, so job done there.
"I know he is leaving with a lot of pride, but this is a new step for him. He's full of motivation. We want to have the best players and best possible squad, we are going to have months of competition non-stop. We need a better squad than we had last season."
