Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz is seeking a pay-rise to move to Benfica.
Real and Benfica have struck terms over a 12 month loan for Mariano, but the striker is yet to agree to the move.
Mariano is on a salary of €4.5m at Real and wants to be paid €5m to move to Portugal.
The ball is now in Benfica's court, if they choose not to meet Mariano's demands the move will be off.
