Matty Longstaff is on the brink of signing a new deal with Newcastle United.
The Times says the midfielder is now prepared to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Toon.
Longstaff has rejected an offer from an unnamed Serie A club in order to stay on Tyneside.
The youngster had come off contract at the end of June and has been weighing up his options for the past two months.
But all indications are that Longstaff will play alongside younger brother Sean at Newcastle next season.
