The agent of Gabriel Magalhaes has revealed Edu and Mikel Arteta were behind the Brazilian's decision to join Arsenal.
The 22-year-old centre-back is expected to be unveiled as Arsenal's newest signing after they agreed a £27m transfer with Lille.
Another club - believed to be Napoli - offered him more money, but his agent Guilherme Miranda has reportedly stated that Gabriel was wooed by Arsenal's two chief recruiters.
Journalist Freddie Paxton posted on Twitter on Monday evening: "Guilherme Miranda (agent of Gabriel Magalhaes) tells me: 'Arsenal was nowhere near the best proposal [money wise].
"Gabriel chose them over more lucrative offers because Edu convinced us of the project. It's 100% because of Edu Gaspar and Arteta.'"
Gabriel has reportedly passed a medical which leaves an official announcement appears just a matter of time.
