IDS man defends disclosing statistics

Kota Kinabalu: Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Director Datuk Dr Mohd Yaakub Haji Johari (pic) said he decided to make his recent statement on the State’s economy based on hard statistics. 

He said Sabahans would want to know the state of the economy.

“Yes, the statement was made in my personal capacity. But I am also a Director in IDS. I was the CEO of IDS Sabah for 15 years, so I know what has been happening. And especially when I was a CEO of Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (Sedia). I keep tracking the economic trend as well,” he said.
