Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk says he has not recommended Louis van Gaal for the vacant Netherlands job.
Ronald Koeman left the role to join Barcelona, and former coach van Gaal has been touted as a replacement.
"I have not personally mentioned Louis van Gaal's name, because I have never worked with him. I have no experience with him," Van Dijk is quoted on Monday at the press moment by De Telegraaf.
"But it is of course logical that his name comes up in the media, he has meant a lot to Dutch football. I trust that the management of the KNVB will make the right choice. We have expressed our opinion. We are very satisfied with the current staff and are pleased that the management is involving us in this. "
