Wolves captain Conor Coady admits he and his family are thrilled by his England call.

Coady, 27, represented England from under-16 to under-20 level before he joined Championship side Huddersfield in 2014 from boyhood club Liverpool.

The defender has climbed back into the Premier League and is now in the England squad for the first time.

"Me and my wife said to my parents: 'We've got news for you,'" said Coady.

"I had my arm round my wife and my mum and dad said: 'Oh, Amie is not pregnant again is she?'"

The centre-back, who already has three boys, added: "I said, 'no'. That's why they thought I called at the time. To get the call now is incredible."

"I never thought too far ahead, I just focused on the present.

"I just wanted to keep playing football. I'm at a fantastic club and knew that if I kept working hard, things may come - and luckily it's here now.

"It's a phone call I'll never forget. I was shaking and it's such an honour to receive it."
