Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford admits it is his dream to play for England one day.

Bamford scored an excellent hat trick for Leeds against Aston Villa in a 3-0 win last week.

The 27-year-old could also play for the Republic of Ireland, if he wished.

But he has a dream of getting a call up to Gareth Southgate's England squad in the coming months.

Bamford told talkSPORT: "That would be a dream [come true].

"The important thing for me is that I've played six games and done quite well in those games, but it's unfair for me to compare myself to the other England strikers who have been doing it for a long time at this level.

"They are more worthy [to be in contention for the Euros] at the minute.

"I think by the end of the season if I'm still doing it and I'm up there in the top scorers charts then we can talk about whether or not I deserve a place in the England squad.'
