No excuse to skip Batu Sapi by-poll: Lajim

Kota Kinabalu: The by-election for P.185 Batu Sapi parliamentary seat caused by the death of Datuk VK Liew cannot be postponed unless the constituency or its district is declared as facuing a state of emergency resulting in many deaths. 

Neither can Warisan the current holder be allowed to keep it for free. Bersatu Election Director Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin said the Covid-19 pandemic could not be used as a reason to postpone the by-election and it must be held within 60 days.

Supporting the Election Commission (EC) move to have the Batu Sapi by-election as required by the Federal Constitution, he said anyone or political party can contest the seat although due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Sandakan has been categorised as a red zone.
