VfL Wolfsburg sports chief Jorg Schmadkte admits Wout Weghorst could be sold in January.

The Dutch centre-forward has confirmed he was a "candidate" for Tottenham this summer, while he talked up interest from Arsenal in January.

Schmadkte, while insisting they won't seek to cash in, has left the door open to Weghorst being sold midseason.

“In the winter, he's still here," he argued.

“(But) if we get an offer where profitability is better than anything, we'll have to think about it..."

Weghorst is still tied to Wolves until 2023.
