Newcastle United have agreed to refund fans who had money taken out of their accounts even though they could not attend matches.

The Magpies had withdrawn money from around 18,000 supporters who were on 10-year season ticket deals.

That is despite COVID-19 regulations making it clear no Premier League team is yet allowed fans in stadiums.

It was estimated the club had taken roughly £7 million since March from fans.

It appears the club has come to an arrangement with fans and will be issuing refunds, starting in mid-December.

Fans can also put that money towards tickets for next season's games, when fans should be back in stadiums.
