Kota Kinabalu: The trial of two policemen charged with receiving bribe of RM300, has been re-scheduled to a later date.

Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat made the order for Lance Corporal Mohd Faizal Nor, 31, and Corporal Alzohari Md Suhaili, 44.

Their case was supposed for continution of trial on Friday. The new date for continution of trial would be fixed later.

Mohd Faizal and Alzohari are accused accepting the bribe from Muhammad Elham Ahmad as an inducement to not take action against Muhammad who has no valid identification document.

The crime allegedly took place between 1pm and 3.50pm on July 4, 2016 in front of the Oceanus Waterfront Mall, here.

The offence under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount of bribe received or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.

The duo are currently released on a bail of RM5,000 with RM3,000 deposited in a local surety each.
